De-Evolution

Utah's GOP is legislating pro-active policy. That state is now advancing how it will execute the death penalty when the hard to secure lethal injection drugs are not available. Utah's GOP has come up with a perfectly insane solution - reinstalling the firing squad. I'm surprised they didn't go for the medieval all day whipping, torturing, blinding, and finally drawn and quartered spectacle especially given how something of that nature could draw a huge pay per view crowd. Popcorn anyone...

Guardian UK: Utah inches closer to resurrecting firing squad as GOP leaders pass key vote - Proposal advances in state legislature by a handful of votes – bill would call for a firing squad if Utah cannot get lethal injection drugs 30 days before an execution

And...

Guardian UK: Chapel Hill suspect owned huge arsenal - Stephen Hicks, facing murder charges over deaths of three Muslim students, had two shotguns, seven rifles and four handguns

Again , no surprise here. Think about it. This is the perfect political move, it makes both the pro-gun crowd happy and the pro-death penalty crowd happy in ( no pun intended) one shot. Maybe , to add some spice they could have a lottery among registered gun owners to see who gets to shoot the condemned to death. Then the pro-lottery crowd would be happy. Its a political bonanza.

To me it feels like society keeps getting dragged further and further into the misery hole. I'm sure some GOP nitwit in Utah that got this shit ball rolling thinks this will help everything just fine.
