The Market On Tuesday

Good morning. It is 47 degrees and sunny here in Upstate NY. The rain of the last several days has lifted and the sun looks good. I've been watching 'House of Cards' on Netflix and I must say it is an outstanding series. Reminds me of the Sopranos in a lot of ways. This time the mob are politicians and Kevin Spacey's character has got it all, he's a power driven homicidal maniac like Tony Soprano continuously lusting for more and more. It's very well done. Watch it.

At 8: 40 a.m. ET futures are flat and the price of oil per barrel is higher. The market is poised to open in the flat to slightly higher area.

Ordinarily today would be a big deal type of day with the start of third quarter earnings beginning after today's close with Alcoa reporting in it's typical first to report position. Not so however, the shutdown which one can squarely blame on the G.O.Tea and their arrogant pointy little heads, is adversely affecting markets around the world as the fear of a US government default on its many many payments looms. Boehner is an idiot.

CNN: Debt drama darkens investors' mood
(During the shutdown) the Dow Jones industrial average has dropped 193 points.

...results due after the closing bell from aluminum producer Alcoa...
