Except, the x-tian right uses a different brand of logic. They would say that it is x-tian to allow the individual to rise up by their own bootstraps without the aid of socialist wealth redistribution. And that socialism is anti-x-tian. The policy of YOYO you are on your own is at the center of the belief. The fallacy there is that the playing field is not in the least little bit level. Factors such as education, location, access to credit, health care, racism, sexism, agism, and political affililiation AKA fraternalism all play a huge role in financial success. And this is not even taking into account general worldwide economic conditions such as the 1970s when stagflation, high inflation and high unemployment, practically wrecked everyone's head - remember workspace - we are all part of that massive stagflation sludge that prevented anything positive, so in workspace we became our own artistic and sexual economy.
I have fond memories of the Workspace days. It was a very important time for me personally. But I viewed it as a time of relative prosperity when kids like us could survive on odd jobs and be artists, create our little fluxus scene, have our shows completely apart from the outside social environment.
