The Market On Friday

Good morning. It is 57 degrees and overcast here in Upstate NY. The weather logo is showing rain and lightning. Hey, lightning, haven't heard that in a few weeks. We are into day 4 of the shutdown, CNN doesn't even have the shutdown as its main story. No, the main story is the voice of the iPhone. The shutdown has become blase. Who knows if this has any relevancy but - Poll: Don't Shut Down the Government Over Obamacare - Democrats also hold a significant lead on the generic ballot, a new survey shows.

At 8:30 a.m. ET futures are flat and the price of oil per barrel is slightly higher. The market is poised to open in the flat to slightly higher area.

Basically when the US defaults on its debt as a result of not raising the debt limit, the world economy will throw a convulsion. Allow me to translate - a few Tea Party Congress people from heavily gerrymandered red states have their finger on the real nuclear button, and they a utterly and incredulously crazy enough to push it as the remaining GOP people are happy to sit back and watch.

CNN: Stocks: Holding steady after a steep slide
The government's monthly jobs report, originally scheduled to come out Friday morning, will not be released due to the shutdown.
