What struck me about the article is that it appears to be a growing trend. When you have world conferences as they do and a society of 'enthusiasts', then they create a sense of normalcy and community. So they have a support system that is evolving. I would suspect that as technology evolves and the whole robot tech gets more and more sophisticated that in the future men and women will seek out robot companions tailored to their desires and it will be a huge business. Consider this, the groundwork for that is taking place now. These people are establishing the community, the market, and the morality of this activity. No stopping it regardless of any ultimate mental health related issues.
