We may not be any more or less imperialistic but we are clearly good at it.
I would suspect the history of the world is a history of conquering, subjugation, and imperialism.
What's interesting to me about Chomsky among other things in his work, is the way he draws attention to these underlying presumptions that nobody questions. The presumptions are so assumed to be true that nobody even sees or recognizes them. He takes question authority to an entirely high level.
He only likes to tell half the story though. The other half is that we've risen from barbarity through extraordinary acts of cooperation as well. War and Imperialism unfortunately are still with us but it's not everything we are.
