Tibet and China Talk

AP: Report: Chinese president hopeful on Tibet talks
China says 22 people died in violence in Tibet's capital of Lhasa in March, while overseas Tibet supporters say many times that number died in protests and the subsequent security crackdown.

Beijing claims the Dalai Lama and his supporters organized the riots...

The Dalai Lama...is seeking meaningful autonomy for Tibet rather than independence from Chinese rule. He has decried "cultural genocide" in his homeland, which has a unique Buddhist tradition distinct from the rest of China.
The notion that the Dalai Lama would incite a riot is ludicrous, hypocritical, and absurd. It is the sort of accusation that we often see coming from a tyrant guilty of extreme brutality. You accuse the victim of what you yourself do.

Without question, the Tibetans deserve autonomy. Tibet was an independent country until it is was invaded by China. By all world sovereign nation standards that was a violation of international law.
