CNN projects that Democrat Travis Childers defeated Republican Greg Davis in a Tuesday special election for an open congressional seat in northern Mississippi. The talk of a Republican meltdown, has legs.
I still have my doubts about the voting acumen of the American electorate. With Bush polling in at 28% to 31%, why is McCain still running neck and neck with Obama.
You would suspect that McCain would run at 28% in light of the fact that he is running on the Bush legacy.
Robert Parry points out that a McCain victory would have massive consequences in the Supreme Court. McCain is calling for judges in the model of Alito, Scalia, Thomas, and Roberts. A fifth judge in that model will equal radical changes in the constitution . All of the above favor the so called unitary executive.
Try explaining that to the American electorate.
