Like It Is

Bush from the perspective of the D.C. crowd itself.

The Washington Post: Bush's Vietnam Blunder

Desperate presidents resort to desperate rhetoric....

Bush's comparison of the two conflicts...(has)... unintended consequences of a most damaging kind for a sitting president.

...Bush's speech.... played straight into his critics' most emotive arguments against him and the Republican Party.

...Iraq has become a failure even on its own terms...

The prime minister's chances of producing the "national unity" government... are now being shredded by the maneuvering for position in the twilight months of the Bush presidency.

Bush's speech fits Talleyrand's definition of something worse than a crime: It was a blunder.

BV$H's pathetic attempt to use Vietnam to bolster his failed little War for OIL the other day showed to everyone the depths of depravity he'll will stoop too to try and slash anyone that dares oppose him. Its really pathetic at this late a date he or someone advising him still think adding more troops to Vietnam would of made a difference and that in the end it was the traitors (liberals , the media etc..) that stabbed America in the back. The only thing I could see in that speech was just that. The GOP has already decided who stabbed who in Iraq and just who is going to finally get the blame for the disaster of Iraq. of course it will NEVER ever be BV$H or his crowd they delegate blame downwards always like the CORP. scumbags they are.

One thing about Bush is that there is the sense that he's just reading the script. He sure as heck isn't writing these speeches and it seems clear that he doesn't have much of a nuanced understanding or perspective of history. Whenever somebody doesn't have a command of the subject matter it indicates no real or deep interest in the subject matter. I think Bush is doing his best to keep a finger in the dam but he hasn't realized the dam fell apart and he's soaking wet.
