Trump's whole game is to play for time. He tried to use violence to buy time to try and get the vote thrown to the States. That very same game goes on as the GQP is writing laws in the States they control to do just that if they lose the vote in their States. Throw it to the Legislatures they control to overturn the vote.

Yes, it's all delay, throw as much confusion as possible into the system. Generally speaking, the tyrants always get a bloody nose eventually.
