Roberts Can Do It

NY Times: John Roberts Can Call Witnesses to Trump’s Trial. Will He? Democratic House managers should ask the chief justice to issue subpoenas for John Bolton and others. By Neal K. Katyal, Joshua A. Geltzer and Mickey Edwards
But turns out they don’t get to make that choice — Chief Justice John Roberts does. This isn’t a matter of Democrats needing four “moderate” Republicans to vote for subpoenas and witnesses, as the Trump lawyers have been claiming. Rather, the impeachment rules, like all trial systems, put a large thumb on the scale of issuing subpoenas and place that power within the authority of the judge, in this case the chief justice.

Most critically, it would take a two-thirds vote — not a majority — of the Senate to overrule that.

When are we going to wake up here and stop pretending that Comey, or Mueller or Mattis or Bolton or any of these creeps are going to ride in on a white horse and save us from TrumPutin. Its over he won he will now go after everyone and anyone he thinks has been disloyal to him. His threat to Schiff yesterday isn't idle talk if I were Adam I'd hire security 24/7.

Make no mistake some jacked up a-hole is out there planning how he's going to save America from Schiff. I think Trump is tottering right now. He's on a tightrope and his balance is wobbly. You may be right, but you have to admit, things are getting interesting. It might not be possible to take Trump down with these charges and such but he's got the wind knocked out of him plus he is clearly unstable mentally and can't handle the intensity of the fire.
