The Market On Wednesday

  Good morning. It is 74 degrees and hazy sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. There is a chance of thunderstorms later today.

  At 8:30 a.m. ET futures are slightly higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

  At this instant investors are focused on second quarter earnings reports. So far the majority of reports have beaten expectations and as a result we are seeing record highs in the DOW. At the moment that momentum will continue into today's opening bell but with world events intruding into the investment field of play  in the last week especially, who knows what calamity could change this focus.

...70% of companies have so far beat expectations on earnings and revenue. He said that normally only 58% of companies beat on revenue.
