What We Believe

46% of Americans believe in creationism and as we know creationism flies in the face of science. Yet I would suspect 100% of Americans would easily use other scientific advancements like medicine, MRI's, the internet, space technology, GM food, etc etc without batting an eye lash. Science is correct when it's needed but not when it challenges religious beliefs.

Gallup: In U.S., 46% Hold Creationist View of Human Origins
Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years.

I find that fig. absurd. 46% are that fucking stupid and deluded. if its true were toast and welcome back to the Dark Ages. Also., if its true public education is an abject failure and farce.

The number is discouraging, but I am not sure what the trend is. Is it getting larger or smaller. Religious beliefs will always trump science.

Actually I just checked the trend. It's gone from 40% now up to 46%. However over the course of many years it looks like the average is about the same, in the 40+ percent area. Look I still maintain that we need two America's - the country is fixedly divided and becoming inoperable. I saw cut the losses, go your own way. The Civil War was a big mistake.
