Ed, read about the Komen foundation, what they do etc, and read about what the money that Planned Parenthood got from Komen was used for and such. Karen Handel is opposed to abortion which is fine. However she led the decision to restrict Komen money to P.P, money that was earmarked for breast exams for poor women. Restricting the money that was so needed and lifesaving because she is opposed to abortion is pure conservative stupidity at its extreme.
But independent charity organizations are allowed to be whatever they want to be. Stupid, conservative, whatever. The whole board of Komen was in on the decision. They know what they're doing.
What if all the evengelicals petitioned GM because they hired an athiest? We're getting into witch hunts and litmus tests.
We can agree to disagree. I think that P.P. is a very effective organization in this particular mission therefor I dislike Komen's initial judgment. I also hope Karen Handel at the minimum does a modicum of reflection on her p**s poor notion. There are lots of organizations out there that have fallen into the hands of ultra conservatives and they truly gone off the range. This includes many church groups.

I don't know, can't a cancer charity hire who it wants and give money to who it wants?

Breast cancer is not an issue to turn into a political grudge match. These are people's lives, not some machine or idea or job.
I don't think it's going to affect anyone's health. The backlash has already raised four times the Komen grant for PP.
Seriously though, some granting organizations give money to this some to that. They obviously are doing some adjusting. They have a right.
The Hard right doesn't how many grown WOMEN and girls they kill as long as they see it saving embryos & fetuses.
