Morning
Good morning. It is 35 degrees and overcast here in Upstate NY. Our new dog was spayed yesterday, everything went fine. She is back home and almost back to being 100% happy. She has a shaved patch of hair on her belly area with a very small stitched incision and a shaved square on a front 'forearm' where they gave her I.V. medications. I was not aware of it but spaying a dog is actually the same as a hysterectomy. They take out her ovaries and uterus, its not 'tube tying.' I must admit there is something unsettling about doing this to a beautiful young wagging creature knowing full well that they are completely unaware of what is going on. For the next few weeks we have to really limit her movement, no jumping especially. In addition she also had a chip placed under her neck skin. In case she gets lost, she can now be identified. Also a stubborn baby tooth was extracted, that was the last baby tooth to go. The dog is not quite 6 months old, this is when dogs are spayed now before they reach maturity.
