At 8:00 a.m. futures are moderately up, the dollar, is down, and oil is up. A lot could possibly happen between now and 9 a.m. to upset the otherwise predictable rise at the market's opening.
Investors will be focusing on corporate Q2 results today. Up to this point the results have been fine. Debt in the E.U. and the USA have been the more compelling force on Wall Street. Allegedly today investors will give that a reprieve and focus on Q2.
A few of the companies scheduled to produce results today or after today's close include Apple, Yahoo, Coca Cola, Goldman Sachs, and Bank Of America.
It a big day.
CNN: Stocks poised to rebound on results
Citing strong demand, Coca-Cola reported earnings per share of $1.20 on revenue of $12.7 billion, beating analyst expectations.
Cisco announced plans late Monday to lay off 9% of its work force...
Gold futures for August delivery hit an intraday record of $1,610.70 an ounce, before retreating to $1,605.60 -- a gain of $3.20 an ounce.
