I always thought his paintings looked like those pics from nuclear accelerators. So Pollack was so deep he was apparently actually painting the sub-atomic Universe! What was he smoking or swallowing back then?
Did you know he was totally incapable of drawing? He was one of our greatest artists no doubt about it, but from a classical or traditionalist view of art he was worse then lousy, he wasn't even considered an artist. But, that begs the question doesn't it? What exactly is art? I'm not a big fan of his work, but its definitely art at a very high level. Totally creative work. I can only wish to ever complete a piece at or near his level of creativity.
This kind of article must make physicists cringe. It's science! It's Art! good grief. There's also physics involved in hitting a 95 mph fastball, or driving a nail, or golf ball. Or pouring milk.
When you slew paint around you quickly learn what kind of mark it makes and you adjust to what the paint does. Fluid dynamics, give me a break.

He was definitely a drinker, no doubt he was exposed to the drug scene in NYC. Whether or not he was into drugs, I don't know.
I know he was into Jung, which is cool.
