The Market On Thursday

Good morning. It is 69 degrees and hazy here in Upstate NY. We had a real roaster on Wednesday with lots of heat and humidity. Later in the day the thunderstorms came through. At one point near sundown we had a marvelous rainbow over the entire backyard, it was a perfect semi-circle. It was really something to look at.

At 7:30 a.m. futures are modestly up, the dollar is mixed, and oil is up.

As you know the market has been weak in recent days. This reflects the state of our economy which is going through some additional slowdowns as of late.

At the moment the market is poised to have a slight rebound at the opening bell, hopefully it can hold till closing.

CNN: Stocks poised for early gains
Reports on various sectors, including jobs and housing, have been gloomy in recent weeks.

At noon the Fed releases its quarterly "flow of funds" report that details household wealth and debt.

Oil for July delivery remained near $101 per barrel, gaining 41 cents to $101.15 a barrel Thursday morning.
