Defense Cuts In Britain

I seriously doubt that there can be cuts to military spending in the USA. The economy is mandated to grow, the growth is in part linked to military spending, and that cycle continues ad infinitum or probably sooner. Plus, if you cut defense spending or even think about it, you are weak on defense and that's a huge political liability.

Guardian UK: First defence cuts to hit 1,600 navy and 1,000 army staff
Navy pilots, Gurkhas and troops serving in Afghanistan among those to lose jobs in initial round of military redundancies

I agree, politically its probably impossible right now. However, the last time we did it in the early and mid-90's after the cold war with the ex-Soviet Union ended our economy boomed.

One of my interests is to gain some knowledge about how the federal budget is apportioned. Obviously the government does not work on a budget. Money is fought over and the biggest voices and greatest powers get the grease in descending order of power. And the power shifts slightly one way or the other. I'm like most people, its a mystery and its a deliberate mystery. The ordinary citizen is clueless. If we knew how it worked, it might resemble a democracy.
