Republicans Object - Who Cares

Its simple mathematics, Democrats control the House and Senate. Democrats can pass health care reform with the tiniest support from Republicans.

Republicans want to keep health care just as it is. Unfortunately this is true from moderate Republicans right on down to wingnut central.

People want a public option and we need to get out there, makes calls, do whatever it takes to let elected officials know that.

Its time to redirect the media's attention back to the overwhelming interest in a public option.

The media likes to present conflict and the crazies got a lot of face time over the summer. All that is past. Now there is an opening for a return to saner conversation.

McClatchy: Face it, GOP doesn't really matter when it comes to health care
A Republican or two is insurance against a renegade Democrat, or one who's unable to vote.

The PO in all of the present Demo. Congressional bills are essentially sham vers. of the original idea. The POs being put forward now are just hollowed out versions of the Medicare for all style PO the public might be thinking it is. Another term for the Real PO is a ROBUST PO or single payer version. This is not what is being debated. I'm afraid the weakened versions are absolutely NO threat to the Private health Ins. mafia. The debate is over and the health Ins. /Big Pharma and the AMA won. If anything things for the average person is going to get worse. Were going to see a mandate of some kind to make Health Ins. universal and mandatory. Unfortunately, no real Public option will be part of this. Taxes and Ins. ( private) Ins. premiums are bound to skyrocket if this happens. Such a result would be politically disastrous for the Dems. They don't seem to get it or care. The truth is many of the Dems. are in the pocket of the same BIG Corps. that are causing the crisis in the 1st place. The bottom line is the Congress is to corrupt to do anything meaningful in this area.

If this is what happens, if it turns out that we get a PO that is bullshit, then it has to get corrected at some point. It has to get improved. So if it fails and it looks like it will, then its time for round two. When I get rejection, I only regard it as a step toward getting what I want.

It would be nice if that's how things worked in Congress. They do work that way if it's giving $$ to some Bank or the military, but not if it's a social program. It's more likely the opposite will occur and that bad PO will be ended and Health care will be seen as another Gov't disaster. This is exactly what the Right wants.
Honestly, I'd rather see no reform and allow the present nightmare to just collapse up ahead. The market place is already slowly doing that to the present system. The Ins. companies have almost reached a pt. where they can't charge anymore . People just cannot afford it. If the Gov't tries to force coverage on people that already can't afford it we could see some real trouble. In any event it's going to be a political nightmare for the Dems. if they try to force a mandate for coverage without providing an option that is reasonable. I expect what the Ins. companies will do is offer worthless policies at a price that people can almost afford and then just lather on the co-pays etc. I have this happening right now.
