George Bush likes signing statements. It works a little like this. A new law gets passed by Congress and goes before the president for his J.H. At this point the president signs the law and simultaneously issues a signing statement. The statement has the effect of giving Bush an out on the new law passed. The statement says that, hey this is a new law here but I personally am exempt from it. The law doesn't apply to me because I am the president. Legal scholars of the American Constitution seem to hold a different view. They believe that a signing statement is unconstitutional. They say a signing statement is a violation of our Constitution and a violation of the law.

Berkley, California will have a new addition to its November 2006 election ballot. There will be a referendum on the ballot asking for a yea or nay to impeach George Bush. Of course only Congress can impeach a president.
What I like about this, is the possibility that other cities and towns will decide to have a similar referendum in their communities. So its up to you, can you get your city council and city leaders to follow the example being set by Berkeley?

Since this campaign began, some members of Congress have signed on as co-sponsors, in part due to hearing from their constituents. Has yours? Make your voice heard, and let others know!
