Persistent

Washington Post: Even as third indictment looms, many Republicans still stand by Trump - A weekend at an Iowa county fair underscores the persistent support for the former president regardless of his legal troubles By Sabrina Rodriguez

Randy Mitchell, 70, is tired of all the controversy surrounding Trump — he thinks the former president’s legal troubles are a farce — but he concedes that he will vote for him again if he’s the 2024 GOP nominee.

It's kinda interesting to hear individuals in Iowa speak about it, but how is this "news"? How is this even informative?
I subscribe to Wash Po. and this reads as infotainment to me.

In 2016, during the primaries, it WAS (insane and outrageous) news to hear he could "shoot someone and not lose voters".
But not now. Cause it's been proven true for almost 8 years...

It's news in that his legal troubles are not affecting his popularity with these people. Even if he is convicted and sentenced to jail they will vote for him. In my mind this is news. It shows that there is societal level abnormality going on. It's like mass mental illness.

Societal level abnormality / mass mental illness -----> absolutely!
It was perfectly on display 8 years ago, it's only freer and more out in the open now. I hate to say that it's the 'new normal', but it is.
