Guardian UK: Revealed: microplastic pollution is raining down on city dwellers - Exclusive: London has highest level yet recorded but health impacts of breathing particles are unknown
The microplastic particles in London were between 0.02mm and 0.5mm. These are large enough to be deposited on to the airways when inhaled and would be swallowed in saliva. Smaller particles that can get into the lungs and bloodstream represent the greatest potential health hazard. These were seen in the samples but their composition could not be identified with current technology.

Who's surprised? We are rapidly turning Earth into a place uninhabitable for humans. All of this so a few million of obscenely wealthy people can be even wealthier.
Pretty much that's the name of the game, greed, at this point. The definition of insanity right - doing the same crazy thing over and over and expecting a different result. The result people expect in this case is that somehow all of the mangling we are doing to the the environment will magically go away and all will be fine. We are now ingesting plastic just by breathing. WTF? We see the images of ocean animals opened up, their stomachs full of plastic junk they ingest thinking it's food. We're in the same place. We are getting loaded with plastic and heavy metals and god knows what else. WTF?
