Rapist Trump

New Yorker: Hideous Men Donald Trump assaulted me in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room 23 years ago. But he’s not alone on the list of awful men in my life.By E. Jean Carroll
I am astonished by what I’m about to write: I keep laughing. The next moment, still wearing correct business attire, shirt, tie, suit jacket, overcoat, he opens the overcoat, unzips his pants, and, forcing his fingers around my private area, thrusts his penis halfway — or completely, I’m not certain — inside me. It turns into a colossal struggle. I am wearing a pair of sturdy black patent-leather four-inch Barneys high heels, which puts my height around six-one, and I try to stomp his foot. I try to push him off with my one free hand — for some reason, I keep holding my purse with the other — and I finally get a knee up high enough to push him out and off and I turn, open the door, and run out of the dressing room.

Andy Salvanos

Suppose you had never seen the work of a visual artist like, oh let's say, Matisse. Matisse has been there all this time but for some reason, you just never got to see his work. When you finally did see it, you were knocked out because, well, it's beautiful. You thought how could I have missed this. The good news is that from here on out, you've got a connection with Matisse.

Now jump ahead to Andy Salvanos. It's the same thing. You might not be familiar with Andy's music, I was not, maybe someone reading this is familiar and kudos to you, but now you're reading this and I'm telling you straight up, listen to Andy Salvanos.

Andy Salvanos is a musician's musician and a musician for anyone and everyone else. Andy performs on the Chapman Stick, a ten stringed electric instrument that makes sounds through tapping its strings with both hands. Yes, it's complex, but to play it masterfully and to compose gorgeous music on it, that is rare. The thing is you'll listen to Andy's work and you will forget about the instrument anyhow. When the music itself somehow transcends the instrument, you've been effortlessly transported, you've been moved just like when we say that movie, or poem, or speech, moved me.

I'll take a stab at describing Andy's music. I could say it's ambient, inviting, lyrical as all heck, thoughtfully composed, modern and interesting in the sense of his use of digital delay and electronics. But here's the thing, this music is warm, think warmth, heartfelt, it's singularly sane, unique to Andy, it's whole and simultaneously delicately refined, not aggressive but powerful.

There you have it. I skipped over some of the details because Andy's already got a nice bio that I included at the bottom of this post. Yes, he lives in Australia so click the embedded posts already.

Listen to Andy’s music catalogue at Spotify - Andy Salvanos, Apple Music - Andy Salvanos, Youtube - Andy Salvanos, and Soundcloud - Andy Salvanos. On social media: @AndySalvanos and Facebook - Andy Salvanos. Also see Andy’s website - andysalvanos.com.

The clips posted are ‘Solace’, and ‘Dream Recall’.

“From city streets to stages and soundtracks, Andy Salvanos is internationally recognized for his unique voice on the Chapman Stick. Born in Sweden with Greek-Russian-Irish heritage, Salvanos is a seasoned world traveler who spent a decade in Los Angeles as a session bassist, before settling in Australia. He is a respected solo performer at festivals and events, and has contributed music to film soundtracks and collaborative projects. Having released 7 solo albums since 2007, Andy's music continues to evolve and find new listeners, showcasing an accessible, lyrical and often cinematic style which often defies categorization.”
