A friend of mine thinks that the Dems should have gone bezerk about the delaying of Obama's rightful appointment. They didn't get hysterical enough. They don't know how to get hysterical. They're so reasonable and logical. Doesn't work anymore.

Sure, unfortunately being concerned over what we should have done is unhelpful. It's crying over spilled water.

I think it's always good to analyze what went wrong.

Should the Dems been stronger, more insistent, in their defense of Merrick Garland's right to a hearing?

Is the liberal way of appealing to logic and reason, and then settling, outmoded?

Learn from history indeed, it's a rare thing but it does happen. Draw judgement on past actions in politics? That's history, even history at this point is in the eyes of the beholder. Perhaps a majority would condemn Joe McCarthy, clearly many on the right do not, they embrace him. One would think fascism was a miserable way to proceed, history has demonstrated this, unfortunately and clearly we are headed there full force. If there's a lesson to be learned it would also fall on us to stay on top of our representatives and let them know what we want. I wrote letters to Schumer and Gillibrand about Garland, could I have done more, yes. If more people did that would it have helped? Who knows. Did the Democrats roll over on Obama, yes they did. They became complacent because no one in their right mind suspected that an inept blabber mouthing fool could become president. They believed in their heart of hearts that Clinton would win and consequently pick the next Supreme. The lesson I take from this monstrosity of a mess is don't take anything for granted.
