Hedges argues for the creation of publicly held banks at the local, state, and city level. These banks would do the business of old school banks of generations ago and stay clear of the investment speculation that modern TBTF banks engage in. It makes sense, this is how ordinary people could wrestle back some semblance of control over their immediate economy and not be shaken down for every last penny or worse, mired in back breaking debt. This public banking system already has a toe in the door in the USA no less.
