The Market On Wednesday

Good morning. It is 28 degrees and the sun is ever so slightly peaking through the clouds here in Upstate NY. The logo has it going into the 50s tomorrow, it will feel like a sauna. Last night I had a dream about future weather logos, seriously, I did. In my dream we were going to have temperatures in the 90s tomorrow. Even in my dream I was wondering how that could happen around here in December. Analyze that.

At 8:40 a.m. ET futures are relatively flat and the price of oil per barrel is up. Right now, the market is poised to open in the flat to slightly higher position.

ADP has just announced a gain of 217,000 jobs in November. That is positive but not great news. Also the trade deficit is narrowing due to a demand for US exports, who knew. It looks like investors will be parsing all sorts of data on the state of the economy today and when it's all said and done, by 4 p.m. the decision on how good or bad that data is will be set in stone. Right now at 8:40 a.m. a betting person might feel compelled to bet on a rise in the indexes today.

CNN: Stocks poised to snap 3-day drop
The Census Bureau will publish data on new home sales at 10 a.m. ET. The Federal Reserve will release its Beige Book, a summary of regional economic conditions, at 2 p.m. ET.
