At 8:40 a.m. ET futures are modestly lower and the price of oil per barrel is down. The market is poised to open lower.
It looks like the indexes are retracting, no one expects the bull run to continue indefinitely. Is this the critical rounding the bend period as it were? There's really no telling, but Friday will be a marker day as the government report on jobs in November comes through the information flow. A bad report is bad, and ironically a good report will be viewed as bad because the impulse to end QE3 will be stronger.
CNN: Stocks: Momentum fading after record run
There's little corporate or economic news expected Tuesday but the world's major automakers will release their monthly sales figures over the course of the day.
