The Market On Tuesday

Good morning. It is 35 degrees and once again overcast here in Upstate NY. It seems like getting a sunny day in these parts would be a miracle. It's been gray, then gray, then more gray. We know the sun is out there, somewhere. One of these days I pack it up completely and move to the Caribbean.

At 7:50 a.m. E.T. futures are modestly higher and light sweet crude per barrel is trading higher. The market is poised to open higher.

The Cyprus crisis is now on the back burner on very low simmer. That country's banks are closed till Thursday to prevent a run on the money. Who can blame people there for wanting there cold cash.

With Cyprus on slow simmer, investors will be parsing lots of data on the US economy including durable good, home prices, new home sales, and my favorite - consumer sentiment. You sentimental fools...

CNN: Stocks: Keeping a watch on Europe
...data on durable goods orders...

The Case-Shiller home price index is due...

...reports on consumer confidence and new home sales are up at 10 a.m.
Reuters: Stock futures signal higher Wall Street open
