I doubt that it has to do with the language. We tend to make nice in our social interactions, and probably elsewhere. Positivity natually shows up. I can't see how anyone could say that there is a positive bias to English.
The article does not lead to an rock solid conclusion.
But I did find this quote to be interesting, a little bit more provocative -

Yah, that quote is pie in the sky bunkum! what the hell?
"Live Science" seems (to me) to be pretty low-grade and fluffy.
