Health planners have their work cut out. Obesity rates continue to soar with half the US population projected to be significantly overweight, obese, by 2030. When a person's weight is 20% or more heavier than normal they are considered obese. Obesity is a marker for many health risks.

The current trajectory (sees) 65 million more obese adults, raising the national total to 164 million. Roughly one-third of the U.S. population is currently obese.
