Any random 10 comments on this Times podcast YouTube page are more insightful than Brooks’ pontifications. He was more coherent as a diehard conservative.
Brooks is just one voice with part of the answer. He's trying to come at it from the side of understanding rather than the side of criticism. He sees himself as as someone who is trying to bridge the divide in the country. I give him credit for that. How successful he is at doing this or how insightful he is in explaining it is another question. I personally found the clip to be helpful. It's important that the losers in this election don't get bogged down by despair and depression. We need calm and wiser minds now, especially. I'm not ready or interested in hearing much news, but I want to be positive. Anything other than that is allowing the opponent to win even more.
The guy has always pulled me in being ‘disarmingly reasonable’ no matter what tribe he belonged to. I listen again at your invitation with hope, but can’t get past the sound of smugness. It is a fault of mine that I sometimes shoot the messenger.
I am also limiting news for health. Cooler heads will prevail. After much chaos.
