Bonhoeffer's definition of stupidity is more nuanced than what most of us think of.
Many "stupid" people I attempt to engage are intelligent, intellectual, creative &/or thoughtful with SOME ability for self reflection & critical thinking.
If we experience stupid people simply as "them", how can we recognize our own moral defects?

This is the best question in my opinion, because we could go about it all with the presumption of moral superiority, which is not so good. Self defeating, i would say. I don't have any answers. In the case of support for Trump, I can point to a few reasons why white working class with poor educations voted as they did. They stand to gain nothing with this choice. Tariffs will raise prices. Cryptocurrency is a Ponzi scheme built on a Ponzi scheme. The stock market has tanked under Bush 1, Bush 2, and Trump 1, and given the direction he is allegedly choosing it will tank again. We have to remember that for Billionaires a tanking stock market is nothing more than a buying opportunity. People like us sell on the cheap, they buy on the cheap, and then reap the rewards during a rebound. White working class people voted out of hatred, hatred isn't a smart look, never will be.
