It began to change before Reagan, but he was THE guy to usher in the 'new GOP'. And Gingrich championed the technique of not working across the aisle. The current version we call Tr**mpism is just a logical extension.
But Tr**mp should NOT get 'credit' for anything. He is nothing more than an opportunist that continues to feed our proclivity to be the worst version of ourselves. The issue is us. We continue along with this sick 'agreement'.
If not a logical extension of Reagan/Gingrich, then how about deliberate? Deceitful, manipulative, amoral are only a few of many adjectives that are apt in describing those in the highest political ranks.
