I think he will cleverly rewrite laws that allow him to profit from sex-trafficking. Just a hunch.

He can propose legal changes, but he can't pass them. I would agree though, he will definitely attempt to use his influence for his own gain. That's how the GOP rolls at present.

“use his influence for his own gain”

That’s been apparent since he appeared in the gossip columns. And lack of accountability is part of the new norm.
And voters are ok with personal gain as the m.o. for elected officials.

Sure, this ultimately gets back to the dualing news sources. Gaetz's voters might not like him or even support him, but they sure as hell would never vote for a demon Democrat.

Dual news sources are a symptom of the disease. Gaetz is a manifestation. 'Influence for personal gain' is slime on a slippery slope.
If we replaced contempt with respect, the news would have no fire to fuel.

My 4 cents.

Not sure I would agree with you on this - "Dual news sources are a symptom of the disease." FOX, for example, has a distinct agenda supported by very powerful people, that is followed by a trusting audience that accepts what it is told. Why do so many Republicans reject climate change? Because corporate entities that gain from the sale of oil tell them climate change doesn't exist through corporate sponsored media.
