Brexit was Putin's first BIG succes in splitting the Western alliance and Trump was next that year. We are still suffering the results of Trump and the Brits of Brexit.

The hope is that there's enough political will to oppose Putin. Strikes me that he is vulnerable given how badly his invasion of Ukraine is going in terms of capturing the country in a cake walk. Plus they're feeling the sanctions over there. People don't want that damn war.
