Brexit is a disaster. It and Trump's election here were both Putin's biggest gambles that paid off. The Russians desperately wanted to divide the UK from it's allies in Europe and it used Brexit to do just that. The other great Putin victory was to place a Manchurian candidate with Trump in the WH that fall 2016. Trump had been being groomed and bought for by the Russians for 40 yrs. or more. The disaster he has wrought in our Country is still unfolding to this day. He was the perfect agent to deepen and split the growing gulf of disunity and disdain the right has for democracy and democrats in general. The Republicans were for democracy when it forwarded them during the Cold War with Russian Communism but this task reached its end when on their own the Soviet Union a rubble heap of nations only kept together with force by the Russian Confederation within it and a totalitarian bureaucracy, collapsed in 1990. When that ended the right was more interested in destroying what remained and gutting it and this project led directly to Putin a revanchistist like Adolf Hitler. Now the GOP is split with a Trumpist base with the power and a rump of old style right wingers not quite as compromised by Russian $$ and politics. It is a scary time with Cold War 2 happening and with it the Ukranian War and an unhinged and angry Dictatorship in Russia.Sadly, this situation is Unstable and unlikely to end well.

Thank you that's informative. Trump is cooked. I have my doubts he even makes it to the GOP convention in 2024. This last election was important in that there was for the most part, a rejection of extremist, trump candidates. It seems like Putin is on rocky footing right now. Ukraine is no pushover and they've really knocked the hell out of the Russian army. Ukraine could also be a catalyst in dividing the GOP. Hard to predict what will happen, yet if the present trajectory maintains, there are some positive signs. A big one this coming year will be a Trump indictment.
