Trump is a snake oil salesman his skills are all in marketing and he will say and do anything to that end. As we've seen management is decidedly not his forte. He's all about the next sale and the next and the next. He's also about not paying his bills he's a tax cheat and and a contract with him is worthless since if he decides he doesn't want to pay you he doesn't and forces you to go to court for your $$. His specialty is bankruptcy as a business model. I've seen people do this act before and they usually end up either in jail or leaving town in disgrace after having cheated lots of people they've conned. Trump has elevated this game to an Int'l level but to some degree every Dictator plays this same game. People hand over their freedom to these guys and end up with nothing in most cases. Sometime though such a system can go on and on for hundreds of years. If the King or Dictatorship can produce for the population as the Roman Emperors did and the Chinese Communists are today they can do last for generations. The problem with Donald and his family is they can't. They rode into power on the wings of the Obama economy and they crashed it because they're idiots and they have bungled the Pandemic on a colossal scale. He still doesn't get how intertwined the two things are. Instead, of doing what other countries have done, like So. Korea etc. he now thinks that herd immunity will solve the problem. Sweden tried this early on with devastating results for the elderly. He's been told by Fauci and others the butchers bill for going that route could be millions of dead Americans. He doesn't care. If it gets him re-elected he'll use the fear of the virus to keep people away from the polls and he'll even wreck the Postal Service to try and stop them from doing mail -in ballots in Blue and especially Purple States. It all might work for him plus other GOP voter suppression tactics, maybe.

It's hard to imagine how the damage that Trump has caused and is causing, does not catch up to him. The virus and the economy are right in the center of that just as you say. What's interesting to me is that most of these guys running around with flags in the bed of their monster trucks are construction guys, carpenters, plumbers, roofers. That's who buys those trucks now especially over the last decade when the compact trucks like the small Nissan that I used to own, are not available. What do those guys have to gain from truck, utterly nothing except that he's given them the opening to be as belligerent as they want to be. White supremacy meets construction workers, this where the election violence is going.

Excuse my typos - truck = Trump and "this is where the election violence is going."
