The Market On Thursday

Good morning. It is 63 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. A fine sunny day, not too hot, is expected. I had a busy day on Wednesday. I put up a selection of my paintings for display at the Bethlehem Public Library. It took us about 3 hours to get the work there and then to hang it reasonably evenly. That is tedious, anxiety producing work. I look forward to a potential exhibit where someone else takes care of the hanging. The reaction so far has been very positive including one person who told me they were shocked to see it was my work. I said to them why are you shocked. The short answer was they didn't know I was also an artist. That's fair. Regardless, its been fun. On the other hand it looks like Donald Trump has done himself a grave disservice with his big mouth highly racist complaints about immigrants. Not only is he forcing the Latin vote to the Democrats, he's losing business left and right. I saw a Trump headline this morning with Trump declaring, "I love Mexicans." Yes indeed Donald, don't tell us you're now trying to cover your loud not so smart backside. It appears that even the Donald will fold in the face of a lost buck.

At 7:10 a.m. ET futures are modestly higher and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open higher.

Wall Street will be closed on July 3 in observation of the Fourth. The market is in play as the monthly jobs report comes out a day early, along with Greece still dangling on the precipice, and the Chinese in stock correction mode. Enjoy the long weekend which for some begins today.
