What the article does not explain is the method used for calculating this understanding that average household wealth is up. If you average in the extraordinary wealth of elite rich into the equation, well then everything looks a lot better for all but it's not. My sense is that the people who hold equities, a house, and a decent job in a reasonable to astounding neighborhood are definitely showing a larger share of the pie.
