We Are All Detroit, Literally

AlterNet: America Is on a Path to Turn into Detroit, and Republicans Are Cool with That - Thanks to the record-breaking inaction and gridlock in Washington, the entire country is following in the path of Detroit.

People with good jobs, benefits ,savings and a future, an increasingly small group are smug about it. and the ones I know think the rest of us aren't trying hard enough and that they are. Their clueless @ how different things are now since the collapse in 2008. The "new" economy is mostly a mirage of lo paying scut work and part time gigs. Very few new full-time jobs with benefits are being created.

Yes, I agree. Elite jobs are still out there for people with an elite education and elite skill set along with elite experience. The thing of it is, this does not necessarily include exceptional intelligence, more often than not, the person is bankrolled. Pay needs to be in line with work and commitment. The minimum wage is criminal. I believe that often times a person with great wealth is often the greediest one out there and the one with the least amount of basic human compassion. More wealth makes people less human not more human.
