That's easy. They know they can keep us fools out here fighting over hot button issues like Abortion, Guns, and Gays that piss us off and while we're yelling at each other they can lift our wallets without us even knowing. Seems to work every time doesn't it?
I like the way Reich is sparse and too the point. And it's true most of these issues take our mind off the really important issues. The right has it's people that attempt to make social issues the cornerstone of civilization. For example if there's gay marriage then society will crumble and degrade to the level of animals. They put gay marriage above the level of things that really do threaten civilization like global warming which is in my mind the most important issue we face.
