If your bad enough, like say Jackson Pollack, who was totally incapable of painting or drawing anything representational you can just say it's what I feel , or when I'm drunk or high it's how I see things etc. Most Modern art is just infantile finger painting elevated to an art form by art brokers and art mag & collector types. Oh and if your really bad you need to be a wastrel as well, it helps to have a colorful life. In the mix you get a genius like Van Gogh or Pollack now and then, but mostly just a whole lot of Ed Wood type

I think of art as one of many possible ways that a person can explore their own personal world. Everything that follows, like fame, or non-fame, is only as important as the person makes it to be and it's not even within thier control or power. There's more too, like how one's person's work can inspire another person in some way - intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, sexually etc. Plus on the way to making the work we can draw on the work of others and learn more about people. I'm big on art.
