The Market On Wednesday

Good morning. It is 26 degrees and sunny here in Upstate NY. We are moving into more and more light and if you're like me it's really nice seeing the return of light, I can't say it enough. Right now we are gaining almost three minutes of light per day. The morning walk was refreshing, get out and get walking, it's terrific exercise.

At 8:20 a.m. E.T. futures are flat and the price of oil per barrel is slightly up. The market is poised to open flat.

Well, the DOW is near a record high and we are all astonished. Now what? Today investors will be parsing more data on the housing market, and that sector is showing signs of stronger recovery. If those signs continue to be positive today, we may very well see a new record.

CNN: Stocks: Close to record highs
...investors await data on housing starts and building permits at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Overall, the housing recovery is currently a bright spot in the economy.
