Morning

Good morning and welcome to April. It is 41 degrees and cloudy here in Upstate NY. I hope you are having a restful and pleasant weekend. I was hoping for a little bit warmer weather in order to feel more compelled to go outside and improve the garden but it looks like that's not going to happen. Last night we turned out our lights from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for Earth Hour. I saw a few houses on the block that were dark, so kudos to you.

Romney is allegedly on the precipice of clinching the GOP Presidential nomination. In my opinion if Romney wins the general election it will be because people are voting against Obama. Romney is not the most compelling candidate, there is hardly a groundswell of Romney mania occurring and even the GOP is regrettably accepting his inevitable nomination. Essentially establishment Republicans have won the day. One suspects Romney will choose or be directed to accept a Tea Party Christian Fundamentalist running mate, someone who can bring out that vote.

The latest polls favor Obama in a general election. Naturally it is too early to accurately predict the election but we all like to read the latest theory.

Detroit Free Press: Poll: President Barack Obama leads Mitt Romney in 3 states key to winning White House
The swing-state poll for Quinnipiac University shows Obama ahead of Romney by 7 percentage points in Florida, 6 points in Ohio and 3 points in Pennsylvania. In a comparable survey released in early December, Romney led Obama by 3 points in Florida and 1 in Ohio, while the Pennsylvania figures were the same -- the president up by 3.
CNN: CNN Poll: Obama leads Romney and Santorum in November showdowns
If the general election were held today instead of in early November, 54% of registered voters say they would back Obama, with 43% supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the front-runner in the GOP nomination battle. That's up from a five-point 51%-46% advantage the president held over Romney in February.
