This is good news , very good , but not unexpected. What happens next winter though will be of prime importance. If the climate swings in to an La Nina state Calif might find itself high and dry again and back into the drought mode it's been in for the last 5 yrs. In the mean time, lets pray this winter and spring put a record snow pack back on the Rockies, Sierras and Cascade mt. ranges. The west all of it has been in a prolonged drought and even one great winter won't be enough , but we'll take it anyway!

Yes, that is pretty much how I look at it too. The news stories on the drought are tapering off as the immediate fears seem to be quieting slightly. It's true though, how will this play out in the future given that some have predicted that the southwest does go dry with climate change picking up intensity now.
