Good morning. It is 77 degrees and sunny here in the Upper Hudson Valley. The forecast predicts a sunny day with temperatures in the 90s. We are in a very dry, hot, and humid spell of weather. Night three of the DNC produced some very memorable moments. Later today the tally of TV viewership for the DNC will be out. So far the DNC has attracted more TVs than the RNC. The numbers are actually very telling, not because the DNC has had more viewers so far, it's because convention viewership is only a small percentage of the American population. On the other hand, it's hard to tell exactly how many people watched as opposed to how many TVs were on. I mean at one point last night there were five people watching the DNC in my living room on a single TV.
At 9:00 a.m. ET futures are slightly down and the price of oil per barrel is up. The market is poised to open slightly lower.
Today investors will see reports from many tech companies. Notice that Facebook is showing much better than expected results. Although the indexes are slightly down overall, they still remain in record territory.
