A New Photosynthetic Solar Cell

  Another game changer.

Science Daily: Breakthrough solar cell captures carbon dioxide and sunlight, produces burnable fuel - 1,000-fold improved chemistry leads to 'artificial leaf' that makes syngas
summary - Researchers have engineered a potentially game-changing solar cell that cheaply and efficiently converts atmospheric carbon dioxide directly into usable hydrocarbon fuel, using only sunlight for energy.

If it checks out in other labs and is for real it's possibly a monumental development. Maybe. So many of these breakthroughs fall apart in further testing or turn out to be less then reported. Or, they get bought up and just vanish. I suspect the big Corps. they threaten don't just sit by and allow some upstart with a great idea to destroy their market share. Chances are sadly this article will be the last we here of this invention.

Yes, what you say is true, bought up and then sitting there rotting away. They are trying to hold together the oilygarchy for as long as possible, but the truth is it's cracking. There are cracks appearing and in time it will go the way of many outdated things.
