Guardian UK: Curbs on persistent debt collectors offer hope to Americans in the red - Watchdog group the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau suggests limiting collectors’ emails, calls and letters to debt-laden Americans to six a week
Debt collection affects about 70 million Americans. According to the CFPB, a bureau established five years ago as part of the Dodd-Frank Act, there are more than 6,000 debt collection firms in the US.
