It was time for OPEC and BIG OIL to try and stamp out the marginal producers , like the shale oil and gas gang and while their at it put a huge knife into all alternative forms of energy as well. Nothing like cheap gas for Xmas, just remember to thank Baron Fossil Fuel and his gang. Until, the price goes back up to $140 a barrel in a yr. or so. After the marginal guys are all bankrupt and you know who is still dealing the cards.

Yes, some kind of shake out is going on. I have heard that the Russians need oil to be above $80 to make their economy work. I still suspect this oil change is an effort to wreck Putin financially.
